Who we are

Brooklyn Health is a team of clinicians, scientists, engineers, designers, and operators, out to solve the measurement problem in health.

We know that accurate and sensitive measures are the first step in reducing risk in CNS drug development, and that reduced risk is necessary for investment in more precise treatments.

We believe in a future where neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders are assessed through objective measurement of symptoms, and the treatments prescribed target the biological pathways underlying those symptoms.

Why Willis?

“Before I trained as a neuroscientist, I was a student of the history, philosophy, and sociology of science. I was fascinated by the lives of scientists that shaped our world.

One of these was a 17th century Oxford physician named Thomas Willis, who was among the first to popularize the idea of the brain as the seat of human consciousness.

In doing so, he paved the way for a new field of brain science; indeed, it was Willis who coined the term neurologie. Thomas Willis is an often overlooked figure in the history of science; we figured we’d coin our work after him.”

Why Willis?

Hi there— Anzar here; I’m the founder and CEO of Brooklyn Health. One question we get a lot is Why Willis?
Well, before I trained as a neuroscientist, I was a student of the history, philosophy, and sociology of science. I was fascinated by the lives of scientists that shaped our world. One of these was a 17th century Oxford physician named Thomas Willis. Willis and his colleagues were among the first to popularize the idea of the brain as the seat of human consciousness. In doing so, they paved the way for a new field of brain science. Indeed, it was Willis who coined the term neurologie. Thomas Willis is an often overlooked figure in the history of science; we figured we’d coin our work after him.
